The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation, abbreviated as (BMTC) is the regulatory authority of all public transit facilities in Bangalore. It currently operates around 5,600 schedules, encompassing 57,463 trips that span over an area of 11.37 lakh km. On average, the BMTC facilitates the domestic travel of 43 lakh passengers daily within the city boundary. It also operates within a margin of 25 km beyond the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike jurisdiction regions. Despite the abundant public transportation, city officials have expressed their concerns regarding the system’s inadequacies.

To combat this issue, the BMTC decided to build up the feeder bus services. “With an increasing demand for Metro train services, the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has unveiled plans to expand Metro feeder services to 300. In response to the growing need for improved last-mile connectivity, BMTC intends to introduce 9-meter-long buses for use as feeder services. We intend to brand the nine-meter metro feeder buses uniquely.
Currently, we provide 9-meter non-AC 120 electric buses for use on metro feeder lines as part of the national clean air initiative. In addition to the 121 metro transports currently in operation, we will introduce 179 extra buses by the end of April 2024, 024, thereby taking the total number of feeder services to 300.” said a BMTC official.
